What Makes Our
Premium Dehydrated Pouched Meals Special
We believe that our Premium
Dehydrated Pouched Meals
are quite special, so much so that we think that they are the best on the market
for many outdoors activities. Below are a few facts about them - see what you
think!
- Premium Ingredients -
We use the finest ingredients available, prefering quality over cost, to ensure
that each pouch is chock full of goodness. For example, our oats come from the
finest mill in Britain with centuries of experience and numerous quality
awards and our freeze-dried meats come from the world's premier producer of freeze-dried food ingredients.
- Taste & Range - Taste is
important; it helps us wolf a meal down and get those much needed calories and
nutrients inside us. So, we spent time formulating our products to taste good
as well as being nutritious. Just as important, we also have a wide range of regular
and vegetarian meals so you should always be able to find somthing to your liking
- Weight/Calorific Value
Ratio - We can't say that our mixes have the highest weight/calorific value
of all foods - we'd be lying*. However, as far as typical wet-pouched
meals are concerned you would have to carry up to four times the weight to get
the same calories from your meal.
*Pemmican,
being largely fat, probably wins here!
- Packaging - Our
packaging wasn't added as an afterthought; it is designed for long-life and
outdoor use. The pouches we use are aluminised heavy-duty food-grade plastic
with a stand up base and a handy zip seal. After filling them we then submit
them to a 99.8% vacuum and double-seal them. The result is an air-tight, low
volume, low-weight pouch of food that is robust and easy to carry.
- Food Safety - The
ingredients we use are supplied to us dried. We then subject them to a fairly
robust vacuum in the pouch capable of removing almost all traces of oxygen. You
(the end user) then pour boiling water on the contents to prepare them for
eating. Therefore, bacterialogically speaking, you could say our food is going
to be very much safer than a comparative wet-pouch meal. Just remember to wash
your hands before handling!
- Efficiency of Use -
Depending on where you are, put on a pan of water or a kettle, boil the water,
pour the required amount in your pouch, stir well, seal, and then wait a few
minutes. You can be having a brew whilst you wait, if you wish. Then open,
enjoy, and contemplate how much gas you've saved by not having to keep a pan of
water, or a kettle on the boil whilst your food cooked - and how much weight
you can save carrying less gas.
